Preparations are in top gear for the 17th edition of Arise 2025, a humanitarian programme organised annually by the non-profit organisation, Arise Women.
Founded by Dr. Siju Iluyomade, Arise Women is dedicated to catering to the less privileged and empowering Nigerian women across the country.
According to Dr Iluyomade, this year’s edition promises to be special, building on the success of the 16th edition. Last year, the NGO reached communities such as Surulere, Mushin, Ojuelegba, and Apapa in partnership with the Nigerian Medical Students Association. No fewer than 2,000 “Arise Pink Buckets” containing food items were distributed during the outreach.
The 2025 edition, scheduled for November 1 and 2, is expected to attract thousands of participants both physically and online.
With the theme, ‘Greatness, Resilience, Innovation and Teamwork (GRIT), activities will begin on November 1 with the popular Arise Walk for Life. The walk, which covers several kilometres within Victoria Island, is designed to promote healthy living, raise awareness about the work of non-profit organisations, and encourage women’s empowerment. It will end with a dance routine featuring gospel artists, comedians, and top celebrities.
The Arise Women Conference will follow on November 2 at the Oriental Hotel ballroom, Victoria Island. The conference will feature prominent Nigerian women delivering speeches on the theme GRIT. As in previous years, thousands of less privileged persons are expected to benefit from the distribution of the Arise Pink Buckets filled with food items.
Over the last 16 years, Arise Women has catered to thousands of households across the country, building and equipping hospitals and schools in rural communities, providing boreholes, mobile clinics, and computer centres, as well as hosting numerous empowerment sessions for women.
