The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at the weekend hosted the 2025 edition of the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk at the World Trade Centre in Abuja, an event that also marked the official unveiling of Africa Shooters, a creative network dedicated to promoting African photographers and visual storytellers on the global stage.
The photowalk, powered by Adobe Lightroom, and held simultaneously in more than 18 locations worldwide, brought together professional and emerging photographers from across Nigeria to explore new techniques, exchange ideas, and showcase the nation’s creative potential through the lens of visual storytelling.
Speaking to THISDAY, Adobe Ambassador and Founder of Africa Shooters, Ebuka Mordi, described the Abuja edition as a defining moment for the continent’s creative community.
“This is the beginning of a movement that positions African photographers on the global stage. Africa Shooters was created to ensure our voices and stories are represented globally, and this event marks the start of that journey,” he said.
He explained that the collaboration with the World Trade Centre reflects a shared commitment to creativity and innovation. “This partnership is about creating opportunities, building networks, and giving the world more reasons to look closely at the creativity and potential that exist here in Africa,” he added.
The photowalk, facilitated by Adobe in collaboration with the World Trade Centre, offered participants hands-on engagement with the latest features of Adobe Lightroom, alongside mentorship sessions, creative collaborations, and networking opportunities.
Organisers said the Abuja edition symbolised a growing effort to connect African photographers to international platforms while promoting authentic storytelling rooted in the continent’s culture, people, and environment.
“Africa has immense talent, and what we’re doing with Africa Shooters is to build a platform that connects that talent to the world. Hosting the Photowalk in Abuja shows that creativity, innovation, and global collaboration can thrive right here in Nigeria,” Mordi said.
Now in its 17th year, the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk is one of the most recognised photography events globally held annually across multiple cities to unite photographers, inspire creativity, and strengthen artistic communities.
Observers said the Abuja edition underscored the city’s growing relevance as a creative hub and a gateway for Africa’s artistic expression to reach the world.
