Two of Nollywood’s leading voices, Judith Audu and Damilola Osikoya, have joined forces to spotlight women in film and music through their new Afrobeats-inspired feature, EVI.
Produced by Judith Audu Productions (JAP) and Switch Visuals Productions, and written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Uyoyou Adia, EVI follows the rise and fall of Evi-Oghene Donalds, a talented but arrogant music star whose world crumbles after being dropped by her record label. Stripped of fame and privilege, she must rediscover her voice and identity in an unforgiving industry.
Described as a “bold, female-fronted drama,” EVI shines a raw light on the hidden struggles of women in Afrobeats touching on exploitation, financial pressures, and the resilience it takes to stay authentic in a competitive world.
Judith Audu, producer and CEO of JAP, said the project represents a celebration of women’s strength and self-determination. “This is for every woman who’s ever been told to shrink herself just to fit in. EVI is a bold, unapologetic story about rising above challenges and thriving on your own terms,” she said.
For Damilola Osikoya, CEO of Switch Visuals, the film blends her passion for storytelling and global representation. “As a travel expert and filmmaker, I’m drawn to stories that move across borders. EVI is entertaining but also deeply meaningful — about truth, resilience, and representation,” she explained.
Director Uyoyou Adia added that the film goes beyond music to explore survival and second chances. “Many artists, especially women, fight these battles silently. Through EVI, we hope audiences feel inspired by her journey,” she said.
EVI marks the second collaboration between JAP and Switch Visuals, following their upcoming six-part series Hustle, set for release in 2026. The film is powered by CCHUB, in partnership with Africa No Filter and supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Since its founding in 2013, Judith Audu Productions has built a reputation for quality storytelling, with its debut feature Just Not Married premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival and winning multiple awards. Switch Visuals Productions, founded by Osikoya, continues to merge creativity with global perspective, following its successful debut feature A Weekend Fiasco in 2025.
Together, the two production houses are shaping a new era of female-led, globally resonant storytelling in Nollywood and EVI is their boldest statement yet.
