Nigerian comedian and reality TV star, Dee One, has completed his audacious attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest stand-up comedy performance.
The marathon performance, which kicked off on October 2 at The Pallazzo, Lagos, came to an end on Saturday after an astonishing 52 hours and 42 minutes of continuous comedy.
A viral video shared on his Instagram page captured the euphoric moment the audience erupted in celebration as Dee One signed off, officially surpassing the existing record.
The current Guinness World Record for the longest stand-up comedy marathon is held by American comedian Benny Elbows, who achieved a time of 40 hours, 16 minutes, and 48 seconds in April 2025. Dee One’s feat also follows a recent 50-hour attempt by fellow Nigerian comedian, Laff Ijuo.
Reflecting on his journey, Dee One described the experience as “a test of human endurance and creativity,” adding that comedy, to him, is “a powerful form of healing and connection.”
“This was never just about me. It’s about showing every dreamer that no stage is too big and no goal is too high. I wanted to prove that passion, when driven by purpose, knows no limits,” he shared.
His 52-hour, 42-minute performance is now awaiting official verification and confirmation by the Guinness World Records organisation.
If ratified, Dee One will officially become the new world record holder for the longest stand-up comedy performance, a historic milestone for Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
