... Sends SOS To DSS Over Alleged Political Threats

… SAN-led Legal Team Petitions Security Agency

A chieftain of the Labour Party (LP) in Ogun State, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi, has raised the alarm over alleged threats to his life and that of his family, pointing fingers at a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Olumide Osoba, son of former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba.

In a petition dated October 10, 2025, addressed to the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Arabambi’s legal team, MJS Partners, led by Prof. Yemi Oke, SAN, alleged that Hon. Osoba sent menacing messages to their client following a political comment he made in a WhatsApp group known as Ogun Governance Focus.

According to the petition, Arabambi had on October 3, 2025, posted a message warning against what he described as attempts to perpetuate political dominance in the Abeokuta North, Odeda, and Obafemi Owode Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.

He wrote: “any clandestine move for continuity of the present status quo (Abeokuta North, Odeda and Obafemi Owode Federal Constituency) in 2027 is doomed to fail and dead on arrival. Therefore, the good people of Abeokuta North Local Government should get ready. Our mumu don do, O to gee!”

Barely fifteen minutes later, the petition stated, Hon. Osoba sent a private message to Arabambi that read:

“You have been paid as usual. We will meet at the appointed time in the place you would least expect.”

Arabambi’s lawyers described the message as a “direct threat suggesting a planned attack.”

They added, “the above message implies that our client has been paid by someone to post the above statement and that Hon. Osoba, with some unknown persons, will meet our client at the appointed time in a place he would least expect.”

The following day, October 4, the lawmaker allegedly sent another message quoting a verse from the Bible — Ecclesiastes 10:15:

“The labour of fools wearies every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.”

The petition claimed the verse was meant to mock and insult Arabambi, describing it as “demeaning and injurious to his reputation.”

The legal team further alleged that Osoba’s “influence and access to political thugs and security aides” make the threats credible and dangerous.

“Hon. Osoba is a prominent politician with extensive influence within and outside Ogun State,” the lawyers wrote. “He moves about with a retinue of political thugs, aides, and security agents. He has the capacity to carry out his threats.”

They therefore appealed to the DSS to act urgently to forestall any harm to their client or his family.

“We most sincerely appeal to you to use your good offices to cause a thorough investigation and invite Hon. Osoba for questioning so that our client’s life and that of his entire family will not be cut short by Hon. Osoba and his allies,” the petition read.

The petition concluded with a clear warning: “If anything happens to our client, Hon. Olumide Osoba and his political allies or supporters should be held fully responsible.”

When contacted for reaction, efforts by PLATFORM TIMES to reach Hon. Osoba were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages to his known phone number were not returned as of the time of filing this report.

Arabambi, a former state chairman of the Labour Party  insisted in a brief chat that he had no regrets for speaking truth to power.

The petition read further “my life and that of my family are no longer safe,” he said. “I’m crying out now because anything can happen in this political climate. The DSS must act before it is too late.”

When contacted for a reaction through a WhatsApp message, the lawmaker, after responding politely to the greeting, read the subsequent messages seeking his response to the allegation but had yet to send his reply as of the time of filing this report.
