A 500-level student of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Abdul-Hamid Awwal, has emerged winner of a brand-new car at the MTN Pulse Campus Invasion held at the institution.

Awwal, who became the fifth car winner in Nigeria through the #MTNPulseCampusInvasion initiative, said determination and faith kept him confident throughout the exercise.

Reacting to his victory during an exclusive interview with  PLATFORM TIMES, he said “Thank you MTN for taking the initiative to run this campus invasion.”

Describing the moment he was announced winner, Awwal said he never doubted his chances.

“It’s just funny I lost count of people I told I’ll win the car. I guess it’s that spirit that kept me going and Allah favored me,” he said.

He disclosed that he had been an MTN Pulse subscriber before the contest.

“I’ve been using MTN PULSE so I didn’t have cause to migrate again. I registered on the website. Then I started using MoMo for my daily transaction,” he added.

On how he intends to use the car, the visibly excited student said, “Sure, I’ll be using it in school and it will also ease the mode of transportation.”

Awwal’s excitement was evident when his number was called as the lucky winner, momentarily leaving him stunned before bursting into celebration.

PLATFORM TIMES observed that he appeared confused at first, caught between jumping in excitement and maintaining his composure.

Addressing MTN after receiving the prize, he promised, “I’ll keep using MTN.”

The three-day campus fiesta, which climaxed on Friday night at the Iyalode Tinubu Lawn, attracted hundreds of students who participated in games, talent hunts and music sessions that electrified the campus atmosphere.

Many students who spoke with PLATFORM TIMES said the event strengthened their admiration for MTN.

One of the participants, Adebola, said the crowd excitement drew her in and she was not disappointed. “I was encouraged by the large number of colleagues trooping towards the venue which prompted me to join and I did not regret,” she said.

Others, including Adekola, Bolanle, Maria, Tiwalade, Bayo, Michael and Taiwo, expressed similar sentiments, saying they “fell in love with MTN” because of the show.

The MTN Pulse Campus Invasion continues to travel across Nigerian universities, rewarding students with prizes and entertainment while promoting the telco’s youth-focused Pulse brand.
