The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, has endorsed Olayinka Fasuyi as the Asiwaju of Ijesaland”.

The monarch broke his silence on his position on the Asiwaju of Ijesaland chieftaincy title at a reception celebrating Fasuyi’s 70th birthday.

Owa, who arrived late due to a traffic jam, explained that he finally made it despite his busy schedule to quell speculation about his perceived lack of support for Fasuyi.

Oba Haastrup expressed deep admiration for his selfless efforts in developing Ijesaland, stating: “My love for Asiwaju is deep, more so for his love for Ijesaland’s development.”

He praised Fasuyi’s tireless work, questioning whether he even had time for his businesses.

He vowed not to tolerate anyone attempting to run him down before him.

He said he had noticed a lot of intrigues in the community, adding that such always slowed down meaningful development.

Declaring his support for Fasuyi, the Owa said: “Asiwaju of Ijesaland receives my endorsement for all the things he is doing for Ijesaland.

“I will continue to support him.”

He said Fasuyi would get his support if he decided to pursue future political ambitions such as becoming a senator or governor, adding: “After all, he is not a prince to say he is doing all these to become Owa.”

Oba Haastrup urged detractors to abandon their efforts and join forces with the Asiwaju to develop Ijesaland, warning against inferiority complexes and tale-bearing.
