As political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to take shape, the clamour for renewed representation has intensified across Ondo North Senatorial District, with many residents rallying support for Engr. Michael Adebayo Adeyanju.
Adeyanju, a respected entrepreneur and grassroots politician, has continued to attract endorsements from community leaders, youth groups, and political observers who describe him as a bridge between the people and government.
Across Akoko and other parts of Ondo North, voices are growing louder for what they call “purposeful and people-centred representation” in the National Assembly — one that aligns with the developmental strides of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
A resident of Akoko South, who spoke with newsmen, said the district deserves a senator who would complement Aiyedatiwa’s progress-driven administration with credible legislative support.
“Engr. Adeyanju fits that bill perfectly — he is experienced, credible, and close to the grassroots,” the resident said.
Supporters argue that Adeyanju’s record of philanthropy and community development long predates his political ambition, citing his role in youth empowerment and rural projects across the district.
Political watchers, however, interpret the renewed agitation as a sign of dissatisfaction with what they describe as “stagnant and recycled leadership” at the federal level.
Many believe that some of the current lawmakers have failed to deliver on campaign promises, leaving the electorate frustrated and eager for change.
Abanikanda Olumoro, spokesperson of the Concerned Nigerians in the Diaspora (UK), said Adeyanju represents a break from the past, praising his leadership qualities and moral strength.
“Adeyanju will not only provide conscientious legislative representation but will also deliver tangible benefits to his people,” Olumoro said.
In a statement issued by the group, the diaspora body congratulated Governor Aiyedatiwa and the people of Ondo State, describing Adeyanju’s political rise as “a new wave of hope and integrity in Ondo North.”
“At a time when moral strength seems scarce in politics, God has blessed Ondo North with a man of character and capacity,” the group stated.
The group pledged its full support for Adeyanju’s aspiration, describing it as “a homecoming of purpose and service.”
“As the 2027 elections draw nearer, we stand firm in our belief that men like Michael Adebayo Adeyanju represent the future of effective representation. By God’s grace, Ondo North will soon celebrate a new era of accountable and people-centered leadership,” Olumoro added.
