The Ogun State Government has inaugurated a State Technical Committee (STC) for the Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up (NFWP-SU), in a move aimed at strengthening women’s economic and social empowerment across the State.

The committee, launched at the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development conference room in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, brings together experts from key government ministries, the Chamber of Commerce, priority value-chain associations, and other relevant agencies.

Speaking at the event, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, described the committee as a “formidable coalition” designed to dismantle barriers limiting women’s participation in the economy.

She added that the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to grassroots development and sustainable gender inclusion.

Adeleye noted that the committee builds on the successes of the first phase of the Nigeria for Women Project, which earned Ogun State national recognition for excellence in implementation.

“I attribute the feat to the collective effort and partnership of all stakeholders, which restored citizens’ confidence in the dividends of democratic governance,” she said.

She charged members of the committee to execute their duties with professionalism, zeal, and patriotic devotion, stressing that “we are custodians of a legacy, and the confidence reposed in us must not only be justified but surpassed excellently.”

The commissioner also praised Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for his commitment to women’s development and inclusive governance, saying the administration’s support has positioned Ogun as a national model for gender-responsive policy implementation.

Committee members are expected to provide technical guidance, review budgets, ensure proper fund utilization, and monitor the impact of projects, Adeleye added.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, Mrs. Ojikutu Gloria from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security commended the government for its support, promising that the team would build on the successes of the project’s first phase.
