Mama Abioye Abiodun Buko’s 80th birthday on Saturday, November 15, 2025 was a warm and emotional celebration of gratitude, love and a life of service. The day began with a thanksgiving service at The Cathedral Church of St. Jude, Ebute Meta, where the preacher praised her humility, dedication and long-standing contributions to the church. Prayers were offered for her life, her children and future generations, as the congregation rejoiced with her for reaching such a remarkable milestone.
A vibrant reception followed, filled with heartfelt testimonies from family and friends who described Mrs. Buko as generous, cheerful and a comforting presence to many. They prayed for her continued strength, long life and prosperity.
The Young Men Christian Union added to the emotional tone of the celebration. Speaking for the group, Adedoyin Owolabi honoured her as a strong pillar in her family and in God’s house, recalling her support for her late husband in ministry. Owolabi praised her peacemaking nature and motherly role in the church, ending with a touching personal tribute and prayers for her well-being.\
Buko’s close friend, Dada Von, also shared memories of their lifelong bond through church, school and marriage, expressing gratitude that she too would be turning 80 soon.
Music enriched the event, with the Jehoshaphat Band lifting the atmosphere and friends representing Babatunde Raji Fatima entertaining the audience with nostalgic fellowship songs.
The Cherubim and Seraphim Church also honoured her through Apostle Tunde, who described her as a Senior Special Mother and former head of all women in their district. Tunde praised her discipline, fairness and commitment to excellence, praying God grants her many more fulfilled years, including the joy of returning to celebrate her 90th birthday.
Mama Buko’s 80th birthday was not just a celebration, but a tribute to a life marked by purpose, service, and love to God and man.
