The Ogun Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Wednesday held a solemn Service of Songs in honour of its late Public Education Officer, Chief Route Commander (CRC) Florence Okpe, who died on October 28, 2025.
The event drew dignitaries, colleagues, and friends who gathered to celebrate Okpe’s life, service, and contributions to the corps.
The ceremony, which was held at the sector command in Abeokuta, brought together notable personalities from the media, security agencies, and other professional sectors who came to pay their last respects to the officer.
In his remarks, the Sector Commander, Akinwumi Fasakin, described the late Okpe as a diligent, hardworking, and resourceful officer who lived an exemplary and impactful life.
Fasakin said her unwavering dedication to duty, professionalism, and excellence distinguished her throughout her career.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the service featured hymns and special renditions by staff of the Ogun State Sector Command, dedicated to celebrating the life and virtues of the deceased officer.
The atmosphere turned emotional during the testimony session as friends and colleagues shared touching tributes on her humility, work ethic, and compassion toward others.
A brief exhortation delivered by Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Ajayi, Lead Pastor, Grace Baptist Church, Asero, Abeokuta, centred on resurrection, purposeful living, and divine comfort in times of loss.
Ajayi encouraged the congregation to draw strength from God while reflecting on the life of the departed.
The late Okpe was born on December 31, 1974 in Ekumtak Mbube, Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State.
She was a devoted Christian and passionate advocate of education.
She pursued her academic career to the postgraduate level, earning a Master’s degree in Transport Management and Logistics from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).
She joined the Federal Road Safety Corps in 1999 and rose through the ranks to become a Chief Route Commander in 2023.
Throughout her distinguished career, she served in several state commands, including Edo, Lagos, Bayelsa and Ogun State, where she functioned as a Public Education Officer until her passing.
Late Okpe is survived by her husband, Valentine Okpe, and three children.
