The management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, has dismissed as false a viral social media report claiming that the institution had been shut down following an alleged invasion of Ijebu-Ode by bandits.
In a strongly worded statement on Friday, the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dapo Oke, described the circulating report as “malicious, misleading, and targeted at causing unnecessary panic within the university community and across the state.”
The false publication had alleged that the university instructed students to vacate their hostels due to a supposed security breach in Ijebu-Ode.
But Oke clarified that no such directive was issued at any time, stressing that neither Ijebu-Ode nor the university’s Ijagun campus was under any form of attack.
“There was never a closure of the institution, nor were students asked to leave their hostels. The environment in Ijebu-Ode and Ijagun remains peaceful and safe,” he stated.
He assured students, staff, parents, alumni and the general public that academic and administrative activities were running smoothly, adding that the welfare and safety of students remained the institution’s top priority.
The university urged members of the public to disregard the fake report and avoid sharing unverified information capable of inciting fear.
“All staff and students are advised to go about their academic and lawful duties without any anxiety,” the statement added.
TASUED further cautioned the public to rely solely on its official communication channels for credible updates.
