The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has alleged that recent terror attacks across the country are being aided by “insiders,” claiming that elements within Nigeria’s security architecture are sabotaging national efforts in collaboration with external forces.
The allegation was contained in a statement released on Saturday signed by the Lagos APC spokesman, Seye Oladejo, who warned that “traitors” within the system were enabling terrorists to strike with precision.
Oladejo said, “Nigeria stands at a decisive historical junction – not because we are weak, but because enemies of the state, saboteurs in high places, and foreign instigators believe they can manipulate the destiny of a sovereign nation of 230 million people. They are mistaken. Their plot will fail.”
He linked what he described as a surge in coordinated attacks to “internal sabotage,” adding: “There is no magic or mystery when terrorists successfully launch attacks despite our advanced intelligence capabilities and iron-proof security alerts.
“This is nothing short of internal sabotage. It is the clear evidence of supposed protectors working hand-in-glove with aggressors.”
According to him, the precision of recent attacks suggests leaks from within the system.
“Only insiders can compromise operations so precisely. Only traitors leak movement details so accurately.
“Only saboteurs deliberately open gaps that enemies exploit. This is not incompetence – it is collaboration,” he said.
Oladejo alleged a pattern of compromise, including “terrorists striking soft targets with uncanny precision,” “deliberate weakening or standing down of checkpoints at critical hours,” and “surge in attacks immediately after external provocations.”
He also accused unnamed political actors of amplifying extremist narratives. “Some politicians now act like unofficial spokesmen for terrorists – repeating their narratives, exaggerating casualties, and dampening national morale,” he said.
Despite the alleged challenges, Oladejo said President Bola Tinubu remained firm in leading the fight against terrorism.
“What the enemies of Nigeria did not anticipate is that this nation is currently led by a President who does not blink, flinch, or retreat.
“Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the war on terror is no longer a polite engagement; it is a ruthless, intelligence-driven, uncompromising pursuit of terrorists and their collaborators,” he said.
The Lagos APC spokesman praised the military while warning those he described as saboteurs.
“Your game is up. Your betrayal is noted. Your network will be exposed. Your sponsors – local or foreign – will be disgraced,” he said.
He insisted that the country would overcome its security challenges. “Nigeria will not collapse to fulfill the fantasies of failed politicians, desperate saboteurs, or foreign actors playing imperial games,” he said. “Victory is certain. Nigeria shall prevail.”
PUNCH Online reports that authorities have not responded to the allegations, and no evidence was presented in the statement to substantiate the claims of internal sabotage or foreign coordination.
The statement comes amid a wave of violent incidents, including the recent church attack in Kwara and the abductions at schools in Kebbi and Niger, with the spike in insecurity prompting several states to order partial or temporary shutdowns of schools.
