Adeleke Should Seek Re-election on Accord Platform, Not ADC – Oyinlola

Former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has advised Governor Ademola Adeleke to pursue his 2026 re-election bid on the platform of the Accord Party rather than the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Speaking on a Yoruba talk show on Rave FM, Oyinlola said the ADC “fell short of the standard” required to support Adeleke’s gubernatorial ambitions.

He added that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) were not viable options, describing APGA as an “Igbo party” and NNPP as “Hausa-dominated.”

“Our governor wants re-election, but the crisis in the PDP at the national level could hinder the party from properly conducting its primaries before INEC’s deadline of December 15,” Oyinlola said.

“Accord Party is a better option. Although they do not have a governor, the platform is manageable and can limit instruments of calumny that other parties might exploit.”

Oyinlola recalled the lessons from Zamfara State, where disputes over nomination forms caused post-election confusion, stressing that the PDP leadership must resolve internal crises before Adeleke returns to Nigeria.

He dismissed the possibility of defecting to the APC, citing past disagreements and distrust. “I have dealt with them before; they never honour agreements despite my sacrifices,” he added.

Oyinlola concluded that he would follow the governor to any party he chooses, but insisted that ADC lacked political weight.

“Accord Party was created by Obasanjo and is manageable. ADC, despite having notable figures like David Mark, falls short of our expectations,” he said.

The former governor emphasized that preserving the ongoing developmental projects in Osun was paramount, regardless of Adeleke’s political alignmen
