Barau Urges Security to Stop Bandit Attacks in Kano

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin on Sunday appealed to security agencies to intensify operations in Kano State following fresh bandits’ attacks in Tsanyawa and Shanono Local Government Areas.

The call comes amid renewed pressure on security forces across the North, where communities in Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, and Niger states have faced repeated assaults by fleeing insurgents and armed groups.

The military has in recent weeks escalated its offensive under President Bola Tinubu’s National Security Emergency Plan, which ordered coordinated air and ground operations to flush out terrorists from forest enclaves.

Reacting to an alleged Saturday night’s attack in Yankamaye village, Tsanyawa LGA, Barau said the incursions by criminal elements, many believed to be fleeing military operations in neighbouring states, must be halted immediately.

In a statement issued in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, the Deputy Senate President condemned the alleged attack in the area.

“This incursion into the area must stop forthwith. The security of our people’s lives and properties is paramount. No stone will be left unturned in achieving this,” he said.

Barau urged security operatives to sustain the momentum created by the ongoing nationwide security emergency and ensure that bandits do not find safe havens in border communities.
