Stop Heating Up Ogun APC, Adeniji Tells Isiaka’s Supporters

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and convener of the Ogun West Initiative,  Bolaji Adeniji, on Wednesday cautioned political actors in Ogun State against what he described as “deliberate attempts to sow discord” ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Addressing journalists in Abeokuta, Adeniji said the political atmosphere was becoming “needlessly toxic,” adding that certain developments must be properly examined “before they are lost in the noise of early electioneering.”

He commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for maintaining “stability and internal cohesion” within the ruling APC, stressing that the governor’s synergy with Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) had brought what he called “visible gains” to Ogun West and the state at large.

“The partnership between Governor Abiodun and Senator Adeola has been a tremendous blessing. The evidence is everywhere — from infrastructural expansion to social and economic upliftment,” he said.

He described those insinuating a rift between the two leaders as “wishful thinkers,” insisting that their open display of unity at the recent Akesan Day celebration had laid such speculations to rest.

Adeniji took a swipe at supporters of House of Representatives member Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI), accusing them of “peddling crisis and disunity” through persistent attacks on Senator Adeola.

“For several weeks, these misguided charlatans have been hurling insults at Senator Adeola without provocation. It is disturbing that their principal has done nothing to caution them,” he stated.

He warned that the APC would no longer tolerate campaigns of calumny targeted at Adeola, saying all political ambitions must be pursued legitimately.

“If Hon. Isiaka wants to contest again after three unsuccessful attempts, he should pick the party’s nomination form when the time comes. The governorship ticket will not be secured by blackmail,” Adeniji added.

The APC chieftain also criticised claims that the next governor must emerge from, or be endorsed by, the Egba bloc. He linked the argument to Senator Adeola’s recent endorsement by his maternal kinsmen in Kemta-Odutolu, Abeokuta.

According to him, the Yewa-Awori quest for the governorship has grown beyond regional agitation and is now a “pan-Ogun demand for justice and political balance.”

“YAYI is both Yewa and Egba. He represents a natural convergence for 2027. Those insisting that he must bow to certain vested interests in Egbaland are simply making empty boasts,” he said.

Adeniji maintained that Adeola had built “sufficient bridges and electoral structures across the state” to stand firmly on his own strength.

He appealed to all APC members and political actors to “embrace peace, democratic decorum and respect for the law” as Ogun heads toward another election season.

“Everyone must play by the rules. Our state cannot afford needless tension,” he said.
