The Jigawa Police Command has arrested five suspects linked to stolen property and recovered several stolen items.
The Command Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shiisu Adam, disclosed this in a statement made available on Thursday to journalists in Dutse.
Adam said the arrest underscores the command’s proactive stance against violent crimes in the state.
According to him, on December 1, 2025, at about 1:30 pm, police received a distress call from Katoge Quarters, Kazaure, reporting the theft of a motorcycle.
He said, “A patrol team from the Kazaure Division promptly responded and arrested Ishaq Sa’ad, a 25-year-old from Rijiyar Lemo Quarters, Kano State, who had stolen a black Lifan motorcycle by trespassing into a residence.”
The suspect was apprehended and has since been arraigned in court for prosecution after investigations concluded.
Adam further revealed that on the same day at around 10:30 am, two suspects, Adamu Nura, 19, and Ibrahim Musa, 18, both from Danmasara Quarters in Dutse LGA, were arrested by Takur Division operatives.
He said, ‘The suspects were caught with a total of 87 meters of armoured cable wire, which they admitted to stealing after digging it up during the night and retrieving it in the morning.”
“The pair confessed responsibility for earlier cable vandalism and thefts in the area and revealed they sold the stolen items to an individual currently at large.”
However, Adam explained that investigations are ongoing, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for discreet handling.
In a third case reported at Jahun Police Station on the same day at approximately 11:00 am, a 40-year-old resident of Karkari Quarters reported a break-in at her home, where several valuables were stolen.
“The stolen items included a laptop, inverter, room warmer, speaker, jewellery, half a bag of rice, clothes, and accessories,” said Adam.
The PPRO also stated that following a tip-off, police arrested Sani Usman, 30, from Fantagal Quarters, Jahun, who was found with some of the stolen goods.
“He (suspect) also named Nazifi Abdulaziz, 25, of the same area, as the receiver of the stolen property. Both suspects have admitted to the charges and are now before the court for prosecution,” said SP Adam.
The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property throughout the state, urging the public to remain alert and continue to provide timely and credible information to assist police efforts in crime prevention.
“The cooperation of the community is vital to sustaining these gains,” he added.
In November, the Command neutralised one suspected armed robber and arrested three others during foiled robbery attempts in Hadejia and Sule-Tankarkar local government areas.
