A group within the Ondo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday said the African Democratic Congress coming up with a coalition of politicians could not shake the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general election.
PUNCH Online reports that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has officially registered as a member of the ADC in Adamawa State, signalling a major development in Nigeria’s opposition politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development generated reactions in the political circles as some insinuated that the former Vice President is likely to be the candidate of the ADC for the 2027 presidential poll.
However, the Ondo group, under the auspices of the BTO4PBAT, said with or without Atiku in the ADC. President Bola Tinubu would win the presidential poll.
The Director General of BTO4PBAT, Adesuyi Adojutelegan, declared in a statement that the ADC posed no threat to Tinubu’s reelection, describing him (Tinubu ) as a strong performer.
Adutelegan, who had earlier inaugurated the ward and local government coordinators of the group in Okitipupa, emphasised the need for APC members to intensify efforts for Tinubu’s reelection across the Ondo South Senatorial District.
He said, “It is clear that ADC cannot dislodge the APC. We know the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has joined them now; we are not worried, even if he becomes their presidential candidate, Tinubu will still defeat him.
“To be honest, Tinubu has no opposition for this coming election in 2027. The President’s performance speaks for itself.
“He is actively addressing our security challenges as everyone can see it and I am confident he will make Nigeria safer for everyone to live without any fear or intimidation.”
Adojutelegan, who described the ADC as a party of aggrieved politicians trying to undermine Tinubu’s achievements, maintained that President Tinubu remains Nigeria’s best option with numerous achievements over the past two years, particularly in infrastructure development with extensive road construction nationwide.
He added that Tinubu is making significant strides in various sectors, citing economic policies and initiatives like the student loan program that enhance educational access for underprivileged students.
The group’s coordinator also commended the Minister for Interior, Mr Tunji-Ojo, for his invaluable support and called on the newly inaugurated coordinators to launch vigorous campaigns to promote President Tinubu’s achievements across the state.
“I encourage you all to engage in aggressive campaigning across the wards in the six local government areas of the southern senatorial district”, he emphasised.
