Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, has resigned from the opposition party, ending decades of political engagement with the PDP.
Ologbondiyan announced his exit in a statement posted on on Saturday, attaching a letter dated December 5, 2025, which he addressed to the Chairman of Okekoko Ward 09, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
In the letter titled “Notification of Membership Withdrawal,” the former PDP image-maker said his decision followed a personal review of his role and participation in the party.
“It is now imperative to bring your attention to the fact that I have reviewed my participation in the PDP and came to the conclusion that, for personal reasons, I need to make my exit,” he wrote.
Ologbondiyan, who served as the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary between 2017 and 2021, stressed that his resignation was irreversible, adding:
“I have therefore come to a decision to formally withdraw my membership of the PDP, henceforth.”
Despite his departure, the veteran media and political figure expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership for offering him the platform to serve at various levels.
“Let me start by thanking you, as well as other levels of leadership in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), for the opportunities provided for me to serve the party as well as our fatherland, Nigeria,” he said.
Ologbondiyan did not disclose his next political move, but his resignation adds to the list of prominent figures who have exited the PDP in recent months amid internal wrangling and realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
