
New Nigeria People’s Party in Osun State has held a congress where new executives were elected for a fresh four-year tenure.
At the congress held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Monday, the incumbent state chairman of the party, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, was reelected.
Also elected through affirmation at the congress, monitored by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, and a delegation from the national leadership of the party, are Adekunle Abolade, as Deputy Chairman, and Hisa Oladeji, as Secretary.
Others are: Mofolasayo Makinde, Treasurer; Aderonke Aderemi, Financial Secretary; Olanrewaju Hassan, Internal Auditor; Olayode Abidemi, Youth Leader; Ajileye Balikis, Women Leader, while Olayode Olawumi emerged the new Legal Adviser.
Before the Congress was held, the electoral committee chairman, Mr. Adedayo Adeyeye, while addressing the participants, charged the executives to work towards driving the vision of the party.
A representative from the NNPP national headquarters, Mr Zainuddeen Abdussalam, in his admonition demanded more commitment from members and the party leadership, ahead of the next governorship election in the state.
Abdussalam, “Urged the new executives and members of the party to work together for the success of the party in the forthcoming elections.”
In his acceptance speech, Odeyemi, who commended NNPP members in the state for re-electing him, stated his readiness to work harder and build a stronger party capable of winning elections.
Odeyemi said, “I want to thank you all for counting me in your party and entrusting me with this responsibility for another four years.
“It is an honour, and I want to appeal to you to continue to collaborate with my team and me in our quest to position Osun NNPP as the number one political party in the state.”
The PUNCH reports that the New Nigeria Peoples Party has fixed December 13 for its governorship primary ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
The state chairman of the NNPP, Tosin Odeyemi, disclosed this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo, the state capital.
Odeyemi said arrangements had been made for a successful primary election, adding that the NNPP was not just participating in the next poll but was determined to win.
Giving further details about the party’s preparations, Odeyemi said, “We have no fewer than four aspirants, and many others are still notifying us of their interest in joining. The 2026 governorship election will be a different ball game in Osun as we are set to spring surprises.”
