Tinubu Meets Six APC Governors Behind Closed Doors Amid Rising Security Tensions

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday held a marathon closed-door meeting with six governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, sparking fresh speculations over the administration’s response to mounting national security concerns and ongoing political realignments.

The meeting, which lasted nearly two hours, was held in the President’s office, with none of the governors willing to brief State House correspondents afterward.

The governors in attendance were Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Usman Ododo (Kogi), Aliyu Sokoto (Sokoto) and Nasir Idris (Kebbi).

Although the Presidency kept mum on the agenda, the parley comes at a period the country is battling fresh waves of insecurity, including banditry, kidnapping and cross-border threats, heightening expectations that the discussions may have centred on stabilising the security architecture across the states.

The timing of the meeting has also fueled political interpretations, especially as the APC continues internal consultations ahead of key governance decisions and upcoming national engagements.

Sources in the Villa hinted that the gathering formed part of what has become a series of strategic sessions between the President and party stakeholders, aimed at harmonising positions on sensitive national issues. However,

PLATFORM TIMES could not independently verify this claim as officials maintained strict silence.

The unusual reluctance of the governors to speak to journalists further deepened curiosity, even as political watchers say more such meetings are expected in the coming days.

The President has in recent weeks intensified engagements with security chiefs, party leaders and regional stakeholders, following what analysts describe as an increasingly complex national security climate.

As at press time, neither the Presidency nor the APC Directorate of Publicity had issued any statement on the outcome of the meeting.
