Nigerian Army decorates 30 colonels and 2 generals

The Nigerian Army Resource Centre has decorated 30 officers promoted from Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel and two officers promoted from Colonel to Brigadier General during a ceremony held at the TY Burutai Building.

According to a post by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja, Major Augustine Bello on the Nigerian Army’s X account on Wednesday,  the ceremony, attended by senior officers, guests, friends, and family members, was presided over by the Director-General of NARC, Maj Gen J.G.K. Myam.

The officers are participants of the Leadership and Strategic Course 4/2025.

The Special Guest of Honour, former Commander of the Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Minna, Maj Gen Olabanji (retd), congratulated the officers, describing their promotions as a “well-deserved milestone”.

He urged them to remain focused, mentor juniors, and lead by example.

Maj Gen Myam (retd) also congratulated the officers, thanking the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu, families, and friends for their support.

Speaking on behalf of the promoted officers, Brigadier General Yakubu Ibrahim thanked God, the Chief of Army Staff, and Maj Gen Myam, pledging to redouble efforts and uphold the trust reposed in them.

He stated further that, “promotion is a transformation in our career in the Army,” adding, “We will double our efforts, never to relent or rest on our oars, we will justify the confidence reposed in us.”

He also recognised the pivotal role of their families, whose support has been instrumental in their careers.

Other dignitaries present included Maj Gen W.M. Dangana, Maj Gen I.B. Maina, and Maj Gen M.O. Erebulu, among others. The event celebrated the officers’ professionalism, dedication, and exemplary service.
