Nigerian entrepreneur and businessman, Prince Omoha Nduka, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing former Chief of Defence Staff, General Ibrahim Musa, as the new Minister of Defence.

In a statement released in Lagos, Prince Omoha described the appointment as timely and strategic, noting that it has attracted positive reactions from military stakeholders and political observers. He expressed confidence that General Musa’s background and experience would strengthen Nigeria’s defence architecture at a time of heightened security concerns.

Prince Omoha, who is the chairman of PLG Holdings Limited, formerly known as Prince Luxury Group, said General Musa’s decades-long military career and leadership in key operations make him well suited for the role. According to him, the new minister’s experience in addressing insurgency and security threats, particularly in northern Nigeria, positions him to confront the nation’s current challenges.

He further emphasized the need for decisive and competent leadership within the defence sector, citing the ongoing issues of terrorism, banditry and regional instability. Prince Omoha expressed optimism that the appointment would enhance the effectiveness of the armed forces and contribute to improved safety across the country.

The businessman also called for stronger collaboration between civilian authorities and military leadership, stressing that national security efforts should go beyond military action. He advocated an integrated approach that includes community engagement and socio-economic development as part of a broader defence strategy.

General Musa’s appointment comes amid continued security concerns in several parts of the country, with many stakeholders hopeful that his leadership will bring renewed focus, accountability and transparency to the Ministry of Defence.

As he prepares to assume office, expectations remain high that the new defence minister will introduce strategic reforms aimed at restoring stability and strengthening national security. Prince Omoha’s endorsement reflects growing support for leadership choices seen as critical to Nigeria’s pursuit of peace and progress.
