The Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Wednesday said security remained the top priority of his administration, assuring residents that his government was committed to protecting lives and property across the state.

Aiyedatiwa stated this while addressing residents of Ose, Owo and Akure North Local Government Areas during a tour of the councils.

He said, “Our administration puts security at the top of OUR EASE agenda. Security agencies remain on high alert to protect all our communities. We will not leave you alone and allow something bad to happen to you.

“Criminal activities along border communities will not be tolerated.”

His comments come months after suspected bandits attacked several communities in Akure North Local Government Area, killing over 20 people.

The affected communities included Aba Alajido, Aba Sunday, Aba Pastor and Ademekun.

Aiyedatiwa said the establishment of an Amotekun Rangers camp and the deployment of operatives had helped to significantly reduce criminal activities, allowing farmers and traders to carry out their activities without fear.

According to him, the improved security situation in the state had restored public confidence and strengthened trust between the government and the people.

The governor explained that his tour of the state’s 18 local government areas was aimed at taking governance to the grassroots, appreciating residents for their support and highlighting projects that had been completed or were ongoing.

With Christmas less than nine days away, Aiyedatiwa said the visit would also serve as an opportunity to extend goodwill to residents through the distribution of palliatives.

He assured residents of Ose Local Government Area that their bad roads would soon be rehabilitated.

The governor added that interventions such as improved electricity supply, school shuttle buses and other social programmes in the state were products of reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu, which he said had strengthened the state’s capacity to deliver projects.
