Ijeoma Nwogwugwu: An Intellectual Amazon @ 60

This extremely brilliant and gifted, elegant lady recently joined Rueben Abati and the rest on the sixth floor.

She clocked 60 and was celebrated by no less a person than the icon himself, Prince Nduka Obaigbena, the Chairman of THISDAY/ARISE Media Group

I received his text shortly after the party had started, and I rushed down to the venue.

Anyways, it was a cosy, fun gathering. Too many big people o.

From His Excellency Peter Obi, to His Excellency James Ibori, to his man Henry Imasekha, whom I didn’t recognise early because of the new Buba he was wearing.

I joined the crowd in my torn jeans and struggled to the food point to grab two plates of well-cooked rice and fish.

Ijeoma has been nominated as one of the most influential female journalists on the continent and rightly so.

As the pioneer managing director of the wave-making ARISE TV, she superintended it towards huge influence and market leadership, unleashing Rufai Oseni on Nigerians.

That evening, Rufai went on stage to serenade her, same with such notables like Tope Shonubix, Kola Adeshina, Nduka Irabor and a host of others.

Ijeoma was smiling shyly like a teenager on her first prom, even as she was surrounded by her very close friends, like the eternally beautiful Ruth Osime and Nkiru Anumudu

It was a well-organised night befitting of a Queen whose pen has more than contributed to the national economic narrative.

But that dress Ruth wore ehn, come and see the slit. It’s like she was looking for my trouble

If she continues like this, she will find my trouble ooo.
