
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed over 1,100 personnel across Bauchi State to ensure the safety of lives and property during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The deployment was disclosed in a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, Saminu Yusuf.
Yusuf said the personnel would work in synergy with other security agencies to maintain peace and security throughout the Yuletide period.
According to him, the operation will involve both covert and overt strategies, including joint patrols of flashpoints across the state, protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as security at worship centres, motor parks, eateries, banks and hotels.

The statement further noted that the State Commandant, Oloyede Nelson Oyerinde, while addressing area commanders, divisional officers, tactical commanders and other officers and men of the corps, charged them to be diligent, focused and honest in the discharge of their duties.
Oyerinde also directed them to intensify patrols, dominate public spaces and remain proactive and vigilant before, during and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
He advised residents of the state to avoid actions capable of breaching security during the festive period and urged them to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest NSCDC office.
The command extended Christmas and New Year felicitations to officers and men of the NSCDC in Bauchi State and residents of the state, reassuring the public of adequate security and a safe, hitch-free celebration.
