Makinde Has Wrecked PDP In South-West, Abused Power – Fayose

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has launched a blistering attack on Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, accusing him of abusing power and crippling the Peoples Democratic Party across the South-West.

Fayose alleged that Makinde’s leadership style had fractured the party’s base, driven away loyalists and weakened its structures in the region.

Speaking during an interview, monitored by PLATFORM TIMES, the former governor claimed that Makinde had alienated many party members who worked for his emergence as governor.

“Almost everybody who laboured for his ascension has been driven away,” Fayose said, accusing Makinde of sidelining party faithful and consolidating power around himself.

He further alleged that the Oyo governor had cornered valuable state assets, saying Makinde “took over all the choice lands in the state,” a move he described as an abuse of office.

Fayose also accused Makinde of dismantling the PDP’s political machinery across the South-West, insisting that the party had lost cohesion and direction under his influence.
“Makinde has destroyed all PDP structures in the South-West,” he alleged.

Raising concerns about internal democracy within the party, Fayose questioned the credibility of the PDP’s candidate selection process in Osun State, claiming that the process was manipulated.

“A candidate who did not even buy a PDP form eventually became the candidate,” he said.
The former Ekiti governor also alleged that he was personally targeted during a political event in Osun State, claiming that Makinde masterminded an attack against him.

“Makinde organised an attack on me in Osun,” Fayose said, dismissing the Oyo governor as “a small boy” politically.

Fayose, who described himself as an elder statesman within the PDP, insisted that he governed Ekiti State independently without the influence of political godfathers.

“I fought my governorship without a godfather,” he said.

On his political alignment, Fayose openly reaffirmed his loyalty to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

“I am a Wike person. Anywhere Wike is, that is where I am,” he declared.

Despite the deepening crisis within the PDP, Fayose ruled out any defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

“I will never join the APC,” he said.
The comments are the latest in a series of public exchanges highlighting the growing internal rift within the PDP, particularly in the South-West, as the party grapples with leadership disputes and questions over its future direction.
