The Lagos State Government has commenced clearance operations along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway to remove illegal structures and restore free flow of traffic.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a statement posted on his X handle on Monday.

According to Wahab, the exercise began at Alakija in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area.

He added that the operation progressed through Iyana Iba and was ongoing opposite Lagos State University (LASU), with active enforcement also taking place at Alaba Market, all in Ojo Local Government Area.

Wahab said, “Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Agency @LAGESCOfficial, in collaboration with other enforcement teams of the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, have commenced clearance operations at Alakija.

“The operation has since progressed through Iyana Iba and is currently ongoing opposite Lagos State University (LASU), with active enforcement at Alaba Market along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway.”

The operation comes amid a wave of similar enforcement actions across Lagos in late 2025, including clearances along the Jakande Coastal Road and arrests of beggars on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

Wahab said the latest operations formed part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to improve environmental sanitation, enhance traffic flow and ensure compliance with existing environmental and urban planning regulations along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway.
