2027: AU, US, UK May Push Atiku to Step Aside for Jonathan – Primate Ayodele

The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has predicted a major political realignment ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, claiming that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar may be pressured by international and local forces to step down for ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

Ayodele said the alleged move would be championed by the international community, including the African Union, the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union, working in concert with influential Nigerian power brokers.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric claimed that the plan is to draft Jonathan into a broad coalition aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu, with the former president expected to serve only a single term if elected.

According to Ayodele, key Nigerian figures such as former President Olusegun Obasanjo, ex-Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar and business mogul Theophilus Danjuma are central to the alleged plot.

“I see the AU, UK, USA, EU and some local actors like TY Danjuma, Abdulsalami and Obasanjo asking Atiku to step down for Jonathan ahead of the 2027 presidential election, even within the coalition,” Ayodele said.

He added that Jonathan would be “compelled” to accept the coalition’s ticket to challenge Tinubu, describing the move as difficult but already in motion.

“The meetings started late December, but Tinubu does not know what they are planning against him,” the cleric claimed.

Ayodele also reiterated his earlier prophecy that the United States would pose the strongest external opposition to Tinubu’s second-term ambition, alleging that Washington would play an active role in Nigeria’s next election.

“As I have said before, the US will be Tinubu’s greatest opposition. The international community will be involved in our election, and we must be careful,” he warned.

Neither Atiku Abubakar, Goodluck Jonathan nor the Presidency has reacted to the claims as of the time of filing this report.
