In a heartwarming display of kindness, the Galadiman Kano Abdulkadir Abbas Foundation has provided free healthcare services to over 550 vulnerable patients across Kano State.
Arewa PUNCH reports that the two-day medical outreach programme, held on Wednesday at Ramin Jigawa Quarters, Gwale LGA, and Gidan Galamida, Chiranchi quarters, aimed to support less privileged patients with free medical care, diagnosis, and medication.
Our correspondent reports that the foundation’s programme has brought joy to many beneficiaries, including Safara’u Aliyu, an ulcer and malaria patient who exclaimed, “I’m so happy to receive free medical care. May God bless the foundation.”
Another beneficiary, Mariya Muhammad, aged 47, living in Dorayi quarters, hailed the foundation, saying, “I was diagnosed, given malaria treatment and free drugs. They’ve taken good care of me, and I’m grateful.”
Aisha Abbas, one of the female beneficiaries among the several of them, said, “I brought my seven-year-old child who was suffering from malaria. I’m so grateful for the free medical care. May God reward them abundantly.”
Other beneficiaries like Ibrahim Adahama equally expressed gratitude to the Foundation during an interview session with Arewa PUNCH, stressing, “I’m so happy to receive free medical care and medication for my diabetes case. May God bless the foundation.”
Gambo Ahmad Kabir, yet another male beneficiary, said, “I came here with my sick child, and they’ve taken good care of us. Thank you, Galadiman Kano Abdulkadir Abbas Foundation.”
Also praising the foundation, Hafsa Abdrrahman, a housewife and beneficiary of the programme, who excitedly remarked, “I’m so grateful for the free medical care treatment given to me for my eye problems. May God reward them abundantly.”
Speaking on the programme, the Chairman of the foundation, Muttaka Abubakar, said, “We conducted a one-day medical outreach to support the less privileged patients at the centre, rendering services, diagnosing, and giving out free drugs to over 250 patients with different illnesses, including children, on the day of the programme.”
According to the chairman, the foundation had initially planned to treat 150 patients, but the massive turnout encouraged it to almost double the number right from day one.
Also commenting, Abdullahi Bayero, the grand patron of the foundation, praised the programme, saying, “This is the first time the foundation arranged this kind of medical outreach, and it’s had a great impact.
“The foundation’s programme has shown that kindness and compassion can go a long way in making a difference in people’s lives,” he emphasised.
In a remark, the Financial Secretary of the foundation, Sani Hassan, revealed that the programme was funded from the contributions gathered from individual members of the family.
“We gathered money, bought what was needed for the exercise, and paid for all that was needed for the success of the programme,” he said.
On his part, the official in charge of Ramin Jigawa Health and Maternity Clinic, Gwale LGA, Mr. Nazifi Rabi’u, thanked the foundation for the support.
“The clinic was in dire need of assistance, and this programme has helped us become more known to the public,” he said.
While commenting on the development, Mr Yahaya Magaji ŵho is the Chairman of Rimin Jigawa Clinic, which has since been renamed after late Colonel Daudu Sulaiman, appealed to the Kano State Government to complete the upgrading project of the centre.
“We’re grateful for the foundation’s support, but we need the government’s help to complete the project,” he said.
Responding when interviewed exclusively by Arewa PUNCH on the gesture, Mrs. Sa’adatu Daudu Sulaiman, a deputy chairman of the foundation, revealed plans to introduce more life-saving programmes for less privileged patients in the state.
“We’ve seen a lot of improvements in our annual programme, and we’ll continue to expand it,” she said.
Sa’adatu highlighted further that “as the foundation continues to expand its programmes, many more lives are expected to be impacted.
“The Galadiman Kano Abdulkadir Abbas Foundation’s free medical outreach programme is a testament to the power of community service and kindness. We urge other similar foundations and wealthy individuals to emulate,” she appealed.
“The programme has set an example for others to follow, and its impact will be felt for a long time,” she concluded.
