Former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has paid an emotional tribute to two friends who died in a car crash in Nigeria last month, describing their loss as deeply painful for both him and their families.
Joshua shared the tribute in an Instagram post on Thursday, following the deaths of Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele in a December 29 accident in Ogun State.
Reflecting on their lives, Joshua said he only fully realised their impact after their passing.

“Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers.
“I didn’t even realise how special they are.
“I’ll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men,” he wrote.
He acknowledged the emotional weight of the loss on their families, noting that the pain goes beyond his own grief.

“100% it’s tough for me, but I know it’s even tougher for their parents. I have a strong mind, and I believe God knows their hearts. May God have mercy on my brothers,” Joshua added.
The boxer recently recounted the tragic deaths of two of his close friends in an emotional conversation with UFC star Kamaru Usman.
He expressed how their deaths “haven’t sunk in,” saying, “One was in the front, and one was behind him, on the right side.
“They both passed away. It still hasn’t sunk in. It still hasn’t hit me yet,” Joshua said.
