The Speaker of 10th House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has congratulated the Super Eagles for securing a place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following their 2-0 victory over Algeria.

The match, played on Saturday in Morocco, saw Nigeria dominate with second-half goals from star striker Victor Osimhen and forward Akor Adams.

Osimhen opened the scoring just 85 seconds after the restart with a powerful header off a deep cross from Bruno Onyemaechi, marking his fourth goal of the tournament.

He then turned provider in the 57th minute, unselfishly squaring the ball for Adams to round goalkeeper Luca Zidane and slot into an empty net.

In a statement via his X page on Sunday, Tajudeen praised the team for demonstrating discipline and the true Nigerian spirit from the first match.

The Speaker extended his full support and prayers to the national team as they prepare to face Morocco in the semi-finals.

“Bring it home, Super Eagles! Congratulations on qualifying for the AFCON semi-finals after the brilliant win over Algeria.

“You have shown discipline, grit and the true Nigerian spirit from the first match.

“As you face Morocco, my prayers and full support are with you,” the speaker said.

Saturday’s victory propels the three-time AFCON champions into their 17th semifinal appearance in the competition’s history.

It set up a blockbuster clash against host nation Morocco on Wednesday in Rabat.
