The Gombe State Police Command on Friday paraded a 39-year-old man in connection with alleged criminal conspiracy, housebreaking and theft in Akko Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Mohd of Kagarawal Quarters, Gombe, was arrested in the early hours of January 23, 2026, following intelligence reports from a concerned resident.

Disclosing this in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said credible information was received at about 4:00 am regarding a syndicate of hoodlums involved in housebreaking activities within Bomala Quarters, Akko Local Government Area.

“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, police operatives moved to the area and arrested the suspect, who had unlawfully broken into the house and premises of the victim and carted away valuables,” Abdullahi said.

During the operation, the suspect was found in possession of a stolen Haojue Lucky motorcycle, ash in colour, bearing registration number JMT 523 UC.

“The motorcycle, valued at seven hundred and fifty thousand naira (₦750,000), was recovered from the suspect at the time of arrest,” the police spokesperson disclosed.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime and implicated another member of the gang, identified as Dauda Maigadgi, who is currently at large.

“He confessed to the offence and mentioned the second suspect as a member of his criminal gang,” Abdullahi said, adding that the suspect also admitted involvement in several cases of phone theft within the Gombe metropolis.

The arrested suspect is currently in police custody, while discreet investigations continue at the State Criminal Investigation Department to apprehend other members of the syndicate.

The Gombe State Police Command assured the public that further developments would be communicated in due course and reiterated its commitment to tackling criminal activities across the state.
