Victor Osimhen has cemented his hero status among Galatasaray supporters after scoring his 50th goal for the Turkish giants, a milestone achieved in record time.

The 27-year-old reached the 50-goal milestone in just 59 games, making him the fastest player to reach 50 goals for Galatasaray since 2000, according to Transfermarkt’s database report on Saturday.

Although he failed to score in Galatasaray’s 1–1 draw against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League, he didn’t have to wait long to hit the milestone.

Osimhen struck in the very next match, scoring Galatasaray’s third goal in a 3–1 win over Fatih Karagümrük, after Gabriel Sara’s first-half brace had put the team in control.

Osimhen enjoyed a remarkable debut campaign at Galatasaray, scoring 37 goals in 41 games, and he has continued his impressive form this season.

He reached the 50-goal mark after netting 13 goals so far in the current campaign.

Osimhen achieved the milestone 10 games quicker than Mauro Icardi, who sits second on the list.

Icardi, the current club captain, took 69 games to score 50 goals after joining Galatasaray in 2022.

French striker Bafétimbi Gomis completes the top three, reaching 50 goals in 74 games following his arrival from Swansea in 2017.

The rest of the top eight fastest scorers for Galatasaray this century are largely made up of homegrown talents, with Milan Baroš the only other foreign player to feature prominently in the list.

Osimhen’s rapid rise and consistent scoring record continue to underline his importance to Galatasaray as the club pushes for domestic and European success.

The Nigerian striker, who joined Galatasaray permanently this summer following a highly successful loan spell from Napoli, is already adored by fans.

Tens of thousands of supporters flooded the streets of Istanbul when he returned to the club, celebrating the arrival of a player who had helped deliver the Süper Lig title last season.
