A former councillor, Olatunbosun Ipaye, has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Ijebu North Constituency I (Ijebu Igbo), on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

Ipaye made the declaration while addressing party leaders, elders, youths, women and supporters in Ijebu Igbo, on Thursday, describing his ambition as a call to service and responsibility.

“Today is not just another gathering; today is a conversation with destiny. Today is a call to service, responsibility and renewed commitment,” he said.

The aspirant, who represented Ward 05 (Oke-Agbo) as a councillor, said his decision to seek a seat in the state legislature was driven by his desire to provide effective and people-oriented representation.

Ipaye stated, “I stand to announce to you with humility, gratitude and a deep sense of duty to formally declare my intention to aspire for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Ijebu North Constituency I (Ijebu Igbo).”

Describing himself as a grassroots politician, Ipaye said he was born and raised in Ijebu Igbo and understood the needs of the people.

“I am a true son of the soil, born and bred in Ijebu Igbo, nurtured by its values, shaped by its struggles and inspired by its hopes,” he said.

Ipaye, an alumnus of Beje High School, Oke-Agbo and a graduate of Business Administration from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, said his political experience was practical and verifiable.

“As a former councillor representing Ward 05 (Oke-Agbo), I did not merely occupy office, I served. I listened, I engaged and I delivered within the limits of my mandate and resources,” he said.

He added that his aspiration was anchored on people-centred legislation, youth empowerment, support for small businesses and artisans, education, community development and strong party loyalty.

“Our constituency deserves effective representation, not absentee legislation. We deserve a voice that speaks clearly, courageously and consistently on the floor of the House,” Ipaye said.

Reaffirming his loyalty to the APC, he pledged to uphold party discipline and supremacy.

He also appealed to party leaders and elders for guidance and support, while assuring youths and women of inclusion.

“To our great party, the APC, I reaffirm my unwavering loyalty, discipline and respect for party supremacy. I believe in consultation, inclusiveness and teamwork.

“To the people of Ijebu Igbo, I pledge accessible, accountable and responsive leadership,” he added.

Ipaye expressed optimism that, with the support of the people and his party, he would secure the mandate to represent the constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly in 2027.

The declaration comes as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections in Ogun State and across the country.
