The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service has extended the deadline for filing of employers’ annual tax returns by a week, from February 1 to February 7.

The Executive Chairman of LIRS, Dr Ayodele Subair, in a statement on Friday, explained that the statutory deadline for filing of employers’ annual tax returns is January 31 every year.

Subair said the extension was intended to give employers additional time to complete and submit accurate tax returns.

He said employers must prioritize the timely filing of their annual returns, adding that compliance should be embedded as a routine business practice.

The chairman reiterated that electronic filing via the LIRS eTax platform remains the only approved method for submitting annual returns, as manual filings have been fully phased out.

“Employers are therefore required to file their returns exclusively through the LIRS eTax portal: https://etax.lirs.net,” he said.

Subair described the platform as secure, user-friendly, and accessible 24/7.

He advised employers to ensure that the TaxID (Tax Identification Number) of all employees was correctly captured in their submissions.

Subair urged employers to visit any LIRS office for further enquiries or assistance, or contact the service through its website and other official channels.
