The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has called on residents of the state to embrace unity, inclusivity and continued support for its development as Imo marks its 50th anniversary.

The governor made the call in a statement shared via his official X account on Tuesday to commemorate the state’s golden jubilee.

Uzodimma said Imo had made steady progress over the years, noting that the anniversary was a moment to reflect on achievements while looking ahead to greater development.

“We have come a long way in our journey of progress, steadily building a State that offers hope, opportunity, safety, and stability for every Imolite,” he said.

According to the governor, the state’s growth has been driven by collective effort and resilience despite challenges.

“Through thick and thin, we have driven this enterprise from its creation to development and now into a phase of transformation, with visible records that reflect our collective effort, commitment, and patriotism,” he stated.

Uzodimma described Imo State as richly endowed with human and natural resources, adding that prudent management and strategic planning had helped sustain growth.

“Imo State is richly blessed by God with abundant resources, a capable and resilient people, and a geographical advantage for growth, and we have complemented these blessings with prudent management and strategic planning,” he said.

He noted that despite challenges and unforeseen occurrences, his administration had maintained momentum towards economic stability and security.

“Despite challenging factors and unforeseen occurrences, we have sustained our momentum toward growth, economic stability, and a secured tomorrow,” Uzodimma said.

The governor said his administration had strengthened institutions, improved infrastructure and modernised governance.

“My administration further strengthened our desire for a State we can proudly call our own by reforming institutions, transforming infrastructure, digitalising our economy, and automating governance to deliver quality services to our people,” he added.

Uzodimma described the 50th anniversary as a celebration of achievement rather than age.

“Our golden jubilee is not a mark of aging but a celebration of divine grace and our achievements, even as we aim higher,” he said.

He urged Imo people to celebrate the milestone while remaining committed to progress.

“I call on our people to rejoice, not because we have reached the summit, but because we have journeyed far toward prosperity. Let us embrace this path with inclusivity and continue supporting the progressive ideals of our dear Imo State,” the governor stated.
