Police rescue kidnapped victim in Gombe State

The Gombe State Police Command on Wednesday informed residents of a successful rescue operation following a kidnapping incident at Tingile Village, Birin Fulani area of Nafada Local Government Area.

Disclosing this in a press statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said an unknown gang attacked a businessman’s ranch and kidnapped him after beating him, leaving his son injured.

He said, “On 11th February 2026 at about 0300hrs, unknown persons armed with sticks, cutlasses and knives invaded the cattle range of Alhaji Adamu Bappah, 48, of Tingile Village via Birin Fulani.

“The assailants beat the victim and his son with sticks and cutlasses and kidnapped him to an unknown destination. The victim’s son sustained injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.”

Abdullahi noted that the rescue operation was carried out on the same date through a coordinated effort involving police operatives, local hunters and members of the vigilante group.

“The victim was safely rescued at Dawo bush area of Kwani Local Government Area and immediately taken to the hospital for medical examination before reuniting with his family,” he added.

He further stated that efforts were ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects responsible for the act.

“The Command reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of all residents within Gombe State,” Abdullahi added.
