The Ogun State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has suspended its State Chairman, Otunba Dr. Femi Soluade, following a unanimous vote of no confidence passed against him by the State Executive Committee.

The decision was reached at a meeting of the SEC held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the party’s state secretariat.

In a statement issued by the Office of the State Publicity Secretary, the party said the suspension followed “extensive deliberations” over numerous allegations levelled against Soluade, including his alleged role in the disruption of a governorship declaration event.

According to the statement, all Local Government Chairmen present at the meeting, alongside members of the State Executive Committee, endorsed the vote of no confidence, describing it as a collective and unanimous decision of the party’s leadership structure across the state.

The SEC particularly condemned what it described as an “ugly incident” that occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Intercontinental Hotel, Ibara, where a public declaration of governorship aspiration by Jimi Lawal was underway.

The party alleged that Soluade arrived at the venue accompanied by armed thugs who disrupted the peaceful gathering and caused chaos.

“Such conduct, if established after due investigation, is not only unbecoming of a party leader but also constitutes a serious breach of party discipline and a threat to public peace and safety,” the statement read.

Citing Article 22, Sections 1–10 of the party’s constitution, the SEC announced the immediate suspension of Soluade as State Chairman pending the outcome of further investigations.

The committee also constituted a Disciplinary Committee to thoroughly investigate all allegations against him, including the events at the Intercontinental Hotel. The panel has been given 14 days to conduct a comprehensive review and submit its findings and recommendations to the SEC.

To ensure continuity in leadership and the smooth administration of party affairs, the SEC appointed the Deputy State Chairman, Prince Adedeji Babatunde Abiodun, to serve as Acting State Chairman pending the conclusion of the investigation and further decisions by the committee.

The party said the action was taken “in the best interest of the party” to preserve internal democracy, accountability, discipline and unity within its ranks.

The SEC assured members, stakeholders and the general public that due process would be strictly followed and that fairness and justice would guide the proceedings.

It also urged party members to remain calm, law-abiding and committed to the ideals of the party while the investigation runs its course.

Efforts to reach Soluade for his reaction to the allegations and suspension were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
