The management of the Oyo State College of Nursing, Eleyele, Ibadan, has dismissed as untrue a circulating report alleging a kidnapping incident within the institution’s campus in Kishi.

In a statement issued on Sunday and made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, the Provost of the college, Dr Gbonjubola Owolabi, stated that no such incident occurred on the campus.

The management described the report as misinformation capable of causing unnecessary panic among students and members of the public, assuring parents and students of their safety.

“The management clarified that after a thorough internal review and verification with security personnel, it was confirmed that there was no case of kidnapping on the campus,” the statement read, reiterating that the safety and security of students and staff remain the institution’s top priority.

The statement further disclosed that the relevant security apparatus had taken immediate steps to investigate the source of the rumour and to strengthen surveillance and monitoring across the campus to prevent future false alarms.

It added that the management had engaged relevant security agencies and reinforced existing security measures to ensure a safe learning environment.

“Parents and guardians are urged to remain calm and to verify information through official communication channels of the college before reacting to unverified reports,” the management said.

The institution reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a secure and conducive academic atmosphere for all.
