The Department of State Services has reportedly invited the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State, Dare Alebiosu, and two other persons for questioning over a disturbance that occurred during a recent All Progressives Congress stakeholders’ meeting in the area.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered from a security source in Abeokuta on Monday that the invitation followed a petition reportedly submitted by an aide to the Ogun State Governor, who was said to have been involved in the incident.
The stakeholders’ meeting, held at a private residence in the Government Reserved Area of Ijebu-Ode, reportedly became tense after disagreements broke out among party members ahead of the forthcoming ward congress.
Sources familiar with the development said an altercation ensued during the meeting, resulting in a brief disruption.
It was also gathered that security operatives intervened to restore calm, allowing the meeting to continue.
While details of the incident remain sketchy, the DSS is understood to be reviewing complaints arising from the meeting as part of efforts to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the disturbance.
Attempts to reach the invited individuals for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
The Ogun State Police Command has not issued an official statement on the matter.
PLATFORM TIMES reached out to the Chairman via a WhatsApp message to his mobile phone but had yet to receive a response as of the time of filing this report.
In a related development, another incident involving a senior state official was reported in the area, with authorities said to be investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack. Security agencies have yet to provide further updates.
As of press time, the DSS had not released an official statement regarding the invitations or the scope of its investigation.
