Global Lead Pastor of The Elevation Church, Godman Akinlabi, has been honoured with the 2025 Transformational Leadership Award at the Nigerian Legal Awards, one of the country’s most prestigious platforms recognising excellence across the legal, corporate and public service spheres.

The Transformational Leadership Award is conferred on individuals whose leadership reflects moral clarity, disciplined service and a sustained commitment to the common good.

Akinlabi was selected following a highly competitive process involving nominations and assessments by the Editorial Board of ESQ Legal Practice Magazine, alongside a distinguished panel of industry experts and national leaders.

Speaking on the recognition, Akinlabi said: “Transformational leadership is ultimately about responsibility, responsibility to people, to values, and to the future we are shaping. I receive this honour as a reminder that leadership must always be anchored in service, integrity and a commitment to the common good.”

The award recognises Akinlabi’s enduring influence as a faith leader and nation-builder whose work has driven measurable outcomes in human capital development, community transformation, and values-based leadership across sectors.

His leadership at The Elevation Church has translated vision into tangible social impact through initiatives such as the Pistis Empowerment Foundation, which delivers education, healthcare low and shelter to economically disadvantaged populations, as well as large-scale outreach programmes including Elevate 200, free medical missions, and food distribution drives that have impacted thousands of lives.

Beyond social intervention, Akinlabi’s leadership platforms, including The Exponential Conference, Vantage Forum, Man Up, The Hangout, and the Business Roundtable, were cited for their roles in grooming ethical leaders, equipping entrepreneurs, mentoring young people, and strengthening leadership capacity across business, public service and faith communities.

Speaking at the award presentation in Lagos recently, Project Director, Nigerian Legal Awards and Co-Founder/Publisher of ESQ Legal Practice Magazine, Temitayo Samuel, stated that the recognition reflects the essence of the award.

“The Transformational Leadership Award celebrates leaders who embody moral clarity, disciplined service, and a demonstrable commitment to societal progress. Godman Akinlabi’s work stands out for its depth, consistency and tangible impact, showing how values-based leadership can drive meaningful transformation across communities and sectors,” he said.

The Nigerian Legal Awards is widely regarded as the gold standard for national recognition within Nigeria’s legal and governance ecosystem, with past honourees including former Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN); Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) and former Chief Justices of Nigeria, among other eminent national figures.
