Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has sacked the state’s Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, with immediate effect.

The decision was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

According to the statement, the move forms part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to reposition the state civil service for greater efficiency, discipline, and improved service delivery across government institutions.

While no specific reason was given for the removal, the government said the action was aimed at strengthening the structure and performance of the state’s bureaucracy.

Governor Yusuf, however, expressed appreciation to the outgoing Head of Service for his contributions during his tenure in the Kano State civil service.

The statement read in part, “We appreciate his dedication and service to Kano State and wish him the best in his future endeavours. We pray for his continued success in all aspects of life.”

Following the development, the governor approved the appointment of Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary in charge of Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, as Acting Head of Service.

She is expected to oversee the affairs of the office pending the appointment of a substantive Head of Service.

The government further directed the outgoing HoS to hand over the affairs of the office to the acting Head of Service not later than Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
