The National Emergency Management Agency says it has received 147 Nigerian migrant returnees from Niamey, Niger Republic, as part of efforts to support Nigerians returning from abroad.

The returnees arrived at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport on March 5, 2026, at about 12:19 p.m. local time aboard a flight operated by Sky Mali Airline.

According to a statement on Friday by NEMA’s Kano Operations Office on Facebook, the reception exercise was carried out in collaboration with several stakeholders including the National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other partners.

The agency stated that the profiling of the returnees was conducted the following day.

“The profiling exercise was conducted on March 6, 2026,” the statement read.

It added that the returnees consisted of 136 male adults, five female adults, three male children and three female children.

NEMA noted that the operation was successfully executed due to the cooperation among participating agencies.

“The collaborative efforts of all stakeholders ensured the exercise was well-coordinated, successful, and hitch-free,” the agency said.

PUNCH Online had reported that NEMA received a batch of Nigerian migrant returnees evacuated from Sudan in 2025.

In that operation, 148 Nigerians arrived at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport aboard a chartered flight operated by Tarco Aviation.

According to NEMA, the returnees were transported to the Chila Hotel for profiling and documentation by relevant stakeholders.
