After days of silence, media personality and philanthropist, Mitchell Mukoro, popularly known as King Mitchy, took to her Instagram page on March 11, 2026, to apologise to people she had wronged, and share a detailed video showing the completion of her recent project — a renovated school in Delta State.
The project had earlier sparked controversy between her and controversial social media activist, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.
In the video, Mitchy showed the before, during and after stages of the renovation, including the classrooms, toilets, borehole and taps.
In a subsequent post, she tendered an apology to those she felt she had wronged during the controversy weeks earlier. In the apology video, she began by expressing regret over taking bleach in an apparent suicide attempt during a livestreamed video, and apologised to those who look up to her as a role model.
She also apologised to President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi, whom she described as a constant supporter of her and her foundation.
Addressing him in the video, she said, “My boss, ST, I’m so sorry. I know I apologised privately, but I did not disrespect you privately; I disrespected you publicly, so I want to apologise publicly. I’m so sorry, sir, and I want you to know that I’ve never taken your support for granted and I will never take your support for granted.”
Mitchy also apologised to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, whom she involved in the controversy after a private conversation.
“And to the Ooni of Ife,” she said while going on her knees in the video, “I’m so sorry, sir. I’m so sorry for bringing your name into this. I’m so sorry, daddy.”
She also addressed VeryDarkMan, describing him as a brother who is fighting for the people of Nigeria and emphasised the need for support rather than conflict.
“And to VeryDarkMan, my brother, I see what you are fighting for. You’re fighting for Nigerians and we can make Nigeria a better place. I’m sorry for coming at you like that. Maybe now I understand you better because I had to step back and understand the kind of person you are. I see that you are fighting for a good cause, for Nigeria to be better. You need more supporters, not people who will fight you. I’m sorry, my brother,” she said.
However, she also maintained that apologising did not mean she was wrong. She wrote, “Apologising does not mean that I am weak, doesn’t mean that I am daft, it doesn’t mean I am stupid, it doesn’t mean I want to become a ratel. Understand that my apology is to allow everything to be calm; let’s choose peace. I don’t want this drama again. You might insult me, but I don’t care. It won’t remove anything from my body…”
In another post, her management tendered an apology to Prime Care Hospital in Abuja and retracted the “false publication regarding your firm”.
The statement read in part, “On behalf of our client, Mukoro Mitchele [King Mitchy], we issue this statement to correct the public record and offer a sincere and unreserved apology to the staff and administration of Prime Care Hospital. In a recent event, the handler of our client’s social accounts inaccurately stated that she was taken to your parastatal following a suicide attempt. This was untrue. Prime Care Hospital was not involved in her care, and we deeply regret the distress and negative attention this false statement has caused their institution.
Meanwhile, since posting the videos, many social media users have expressed varied reactions.
A user, mrbike_global, wrote, “Trust, honesty, humility and accountability are the building blocks of a positive reputation. God bless you @king__mitchy, shine on,” while lextwinss commented, “Aww! When people are accountable for their actions, wrongs or mistakes, it doesn’t show weakness; rather, it shows strength and understanding. Most importantly, when they acknowledge it and show they didn’t mean it that way. As humans, we all make mistakes and let emotions get the better of us. Mitchy has always been a sweet girl; she still is and we all know that. This apology is accepted. Welcome back Mitchyy!”
Although VeryDarkMan has not directly responded to Mitchy’s apology, he shared a video on Instagram on March 11, 2026, showing himself at a school construction site alongside engineers overseeing a project.
In the clip, he thanked those who contributed to the initiative, noting that the work had started three days earlier. While making a remark many interpreted as a subtle dig at Mitchy’s earlier claim that her project would take six days, he said, “It’s not going to take six days but more.”
The comment appeared to reference Mitchy’s earlier statement in February that her renovation project would be completed within six days before the issue became controversial.
