Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State have commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for advancing infrastructural development across the 18 local government areas of the state.

The party leaders, under the umbrella of the Concerned Grassroots Leaders in Ondo APC, warned litigants not to distract the governor with court cases, noting that Aiyedatiwa had not declared an intention to contest for a second term but had faced legal challenges.

A judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Akure, last week, halted the purported ambition of the governor to seek reelection.

In response, the governor said he had never announced any plan to contest.

Speaking with journalists in Akure on Monday, the convener of the group, Chief Babajide Akinwolere, said Aiyedatiwa had demonstrated commitment, stability, and purposeful leadership in steering the affairs of the state and should not be distracted by unnecessary litigation.

He stated, “People should not distract the governor with unnecessary litigation; he is doing well in the state. His administration has continued to place the welfare of the people at the centre of governance, while ensuring that development reaches every part of the state.

“In the area of infrastructure, the administration has continued ongoing projects and initiated new ones aimed at improving transportation, boosting economic activities, and enhancing connectivity between communities.

“These efforts are laying a solid foundation for sustainable development in Ondo State.

“The government under Governor Aiyedatiwa has remained committed to improving education, strengthening healthcare services, empowering youths, and supporting small and medium-scale enterprises.

“I think we should allow him to stay focused on all the developmental projects across the state. He has not declared an intention to contest for a second term. We should not distract him.”

Another party chieftain, Dele Akarigbo, described the governor as a law-abiding leader who respects the judicial process, saying Aiyedatiwa would abide by the court’s decision.

He added, “Don’t forget, the governor is a law-abiding person. About the court case, whatever the court says, our governor is ready to abide by the judicial pronouncement.

“But we should also remember that if the people express their desire for him, because of his commitment to their well-being, I don’t think the court would reject it.

“When the people speak, the law must respect the opinion of the good people of Ondo State at the appropriate time.”
