Adamawa police boost Eid-el-Fitr security for Sallah

The Adamawa State Police Command has deployed heavily armed personnel across strategic locations in the state as part of efforts to ensure peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

The command said the security measures were designed to prevent criminal elements from exploiting the festive period to cause disruption.

This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje.

According to him, the command has put in place extensive operational strategies in collaboration with other security agencies to maintain law and order during the Sallah festivities.

Nguroje stated, “The Adamawa State Police Command has put in place comprehensive security measures to ensure a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

“In Collaboration with sister security agencies and other friendly forces, the Command has deployed a robust combination of operational and manpower assets, including personnel from the 14 PMF, 65 PMF, Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) Base, State Intelligence Department (SID), Area Commands, Divisional police headquarters, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)/CBRN Unit, as well as other tactical and conventional formations within the Command to ensure coordinated and effective security coverage across the State.

“As part of the operational strategy, personnel have been strategically positioned at critical infrastructure and public places, including Eid- prayer grounds, the Yola International Airport, major highways, markets, recreational/ Event centres, Residential areas, and other vulnerable locations to prevent any security breaches.”

Nguroje added that the command had also intensified visible policing, stop-and-search operations, and patrols across both urban and rural communities.

He noted that security operatives would maintain surveillance and intelligence gathering around the clock throughout the celebration to identify and neutralise any potential threats.

The statement further said the Commissioner of Police had instructed all officers deployed for the operation to remain professional, respect citizens’ rights, and maintain a friendly approach while carrying out their duties.

The police also urged parents and guardians to monitor their children and discourage any form of misconduct during the festivities.

Residents were equally advised to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious persons or activities promptly.

The command reassured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property before, during, and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

“The Command wishes all Muslim faithful a joyous and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.”Eid-el-Fitr marks the end of the Ramadan fasting period and is usually celebrated with congregational prayers, family gatherings, and public festivities.

Security agencies across Nigeria typically strengthen patrols and deploy additional personnel during the period to prevent crime and ensure public safety.
