President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Muslims in Nigeria to uphold the virtues of unity, patriotism, and compassion as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the Ramadan fast.
The President, in a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, congratulated Muslims on successfully completing the holy month, urging them to sustain its spiritual lessons beyond the festivities.
Tinubu emphasised that the values of discipline, sacrifice, and devotion cultivated during Ramadan should translate into renewed commitment to national cohesion and peaceful coexistence.
He said, “We have a lot to draw from the noble lessons of Ramadan, especially at a time like this. We must continue to abide by the virtues of piety, selflessness, perseverance, kindness, and compassion beyond this period.”
The President stressed the importance of unity across religious and ethnic divides, noting that national integration remains critical to achieving sustainable peace and development in the country.
He also urged Muslims to extend acts of charity and kindness to the less privileged, regardless of background, adding that such gestures would strengthen social harmony and promote inclusiveness.
Tinubu further called on religious leaders to use the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr to offer prayers for peace, stability, and economic recovery in the country.
Expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future, he said collective efforts by citizens would help overcome prevailing challenges and set the nation on the path of lasting progress.
The President, therefore, wished Muslims a joyous Eid celebration, praying that the blessings of Ramadan bring renewed hope, strength, and guidance to individuals, families, and the nation.
