The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, has felicitated with Muslims across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, urging them to sustain the virtues of discipline, self-denial, purity, sacrifice, and anti-corruption imbibed during Ramadan.
Olukoyede delivered the charge in Abuja on Friday in his Sallah message, commending Muslim faithful for their steadfastness and unwavering faith in Almighty Allah throughout the fasting period.
He called on Muslims to extend the moral and spiritual lessons of Ramadan beyond the holy month, emphasising that these values are vital for personal growth and national development.
“As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, let us continue to uphold the principles of discipline, self-denial, purity, anti-corruption, and commitment to higher ideals, which the Ramadan season instilled in us,” he said.
The EFCC chairman highlighted the role of collective responsibility in fostering a better society, noting that adherence to these virtues would contribute to building a corruption-free Nigeria.
“The best of us is what is good for the best of our nation. Together, we can make Nigeria better and rid our country of corruption,” Olukoyede added.
The EFCC is Nigeria’s foremost anti-corruption agency, responsible for investigating and prosecuting financial crimes.
Eid-el-Fitr marks the end of the Ramadan fasting period, a time for Muslims to reflect on spiritual discipline, moral conduct, and societal responsibility.
In the same vein, the Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Othman II, has urged Nigerians to prioritise prayers for peace and national unity, emphasising that tackling insecurity is a collective responsibility.
Speaking after the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr prayers on Friday, the monarch stressed that addressing security challenges cannot be left solely to the government, noting that every citizen has a role to play.
“Security is everyone’s business. All hands must be on deck to succeed in the fight against recurring insecurity in various parts of the country,” he said.
The Emir acknowledged the efforts of government authorities in combating insecurity and called on citizens to actively support initiatives aimed at restoring lasting peace. He also commended Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed for his focus on development projects in the emirate and consistent commitment to good governance.
During the Eid sermon, the Deputy Chief Imam of the emirate, Ishaq Ismail, congratulated Muslim faithful for successfully completing the Ramadan fast and prayed that Allah accepts their sacrifices as acts of Ibadah.
Ismail also expressed concern over lingering insecurity in parts of the country, noting that while Dass remains relatively peaceful, the community is indirectly affected by national unrest.
“We must pray for our fellow countrymen who are in disarray and support both government and traditional leaders in identifying and addressing criminal elements within our communities,” he said.
He further stressed the importance of upholding law and order, adding, “Every breach of law and order is an offence, and no offender, no matter how minor, should go unpunished.”
