President Bola Tinubu has declared that securing Nigeria is a shared responsibility of all citizens, warning that the country’s stability cannot be left solely in the hands of government.

Tinubu spoke on Friday after observing the Eid-el-Fitr prayers at the Dodan Barracks Eid Ground in Lagos, where he urged Nigerians to sustain the virtues of discipline, compassion and unity beyond the holy month of Ramadan.

According to him, the spiritual and moral lessons of Ramadan—charity, love, and peaceful coexistence—must not be discarded after the fasting period, but embraced as a continuous way of life.

“We thank Almighty God for guiding us through Ramadan. But the lessons and sacrifices must not end with the month. The spirit of giving, peace and love for one another must continue,” the President said.

Addressing growing security concerns across the country, Tinubu stressed that every Nigerian has a role to play in safeguarding the nation, including the provision of timely and credible intelligence to security agencies.

“The stability and security of this nation is not the responsibility of one man alone. We are all involved. We must be ready to provide information — sensitive information — about suspicious movements and activities across the country,” he stated.

The President also called on Nigerians to respect the rule of law and promote peaceful coexistence among people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds, describing Nigeria’s diversity as a strength that must be preserved.

“Our diversity is our strength. We must accept one another as brothers and sisters. Whether through Islam or Christianity, we all serve one God. Let us reflect this in how we treat one another,” he added.

Tinubu further urged citizens to offer prayers for national peace and stability while extending support to the vulnerable, noting that a stable society depends on collective goodwill and unity of purpose.

Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, is observed globally by Muslims through fasting, prayers and acts of charity.
